33d International ESTA Conference in Valletta, Malta, March 19th – 24th 2005

This time the conference took place at the southern edge of Europe, on an island in the Mediterranean, rich of history determined by sovereigns of different nations. The conservatoire, which celebrated its 30th anniversary at the same time, was founded with support of the Austrian government. The Greek, Sicilians, Spanish, the Knights Hospitallers, Napoleon and the Italian under Mussolini left their traces in the architecture and in the music. The latter, the music around the Mediterranean, was the focus of the conference. Concerts took place in palace-like houses.
