ESTA (European String Teachers Association) is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1972 in order to promote the highest standards in teaching and to enable the sharing of ideas among string teachers and players of all distinctions throughout Europe.
We bring to your attention a notice about the international composition (for String Quartets) competition Piero Farulli.
We would be grateful if you could forward it to all teachers and students, to whom it might be of interest. Piero Farulli has been president of the Italian ESTA branch.
The competition means to remind him as the violist of the Quartetto Italiano and the founder of the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.
After the highly successful launch of this competition in 2012, and by popular demand, the ESTA Young Composers’ Competition will be run again in collaboration with The Purcell School for Young Musicians. Applications are welcome from all young composers. The closing date is the 10th January 2015. A shortlist of finalists will be invited to a workshop at the Purcell School on the 8th February 2015 to present their works and hear them performed by students of the Purcell School. At the end of the day a winner for each category will be announced. The winner in each category will be given the title of ‘ESTA Young Composer 2015 (Junior / Intermediate / Senior)’ and invited to Cardiff where the overall winner will be announced. There will be 4 categories 11 and under, 12-15, 16-18 and 19-21.
